Alabama's top finishers
School rankings generally look at things such as test scores, the percent of students that attend college or student/teacher ratios. A recent ranking by Niche, however, approached things a little differently. To determine each state’s “standout” high schools, Niche did take into consideration academic achievement – composite SAT/ACT scores and colleges selected by attendees – but also factored in the percentage of students identified as economically disadvantaged. To make the list, a school had to have at least 50 percent of the student population listed as economically disadvantaged. Test scores from those groups were added to the equation to identify each state’s standout schools.
