Welcome to Coach Larry Gilmer's school webpage. This is my 31th year teaching and coaching. This is my 27th year at Russellville. I am the Head Football Coach and Athletic Coordinator at RMS. I teach 7th and 8th grade boys P.E.

I was selected as the 2015 Dove mens+ National Caring Coach of the Year and recognized by Oklahoma Head Football Coach Bob Stoops at the College Football Hall of Fame in December 2015. I was also honored as the 2016 Russellville City Schools Educator of the Year. I am a 2012 inductee into the Marion County All Sports Hall of Fame and the 2011 "There's a Way" Teacher of the year award winner at Russellville Middle School.

I have been married to Beth Page Gilmer for 36 years. We have 2 sons, Slade age 34 and Chase, age 29 and his wife Kelsey and their daughter Scarlett Jane. We are also expecting a new grandson in January. Both Slade and Chase are graduates of Russellville High School. My family and I are members of Russellville First Baptist Church. I serve as a deacon and usher.

I enjoy spending time with my family and pet beagle dog, Max. I am a huge Alabama fan.  I love Alabama football, basketball and baseball. I also enjoy high school and college sports. I also enjoy watching college teams that my former players are a part of. I love watching old TV shows such as the Andy Griffith Show, Walker, Texas Ranger, Happy Days, Leave it to Beaver, The Rifleman, and Perry Mason. I also enjoy watching ESPN and the SEC network. My wife Beth and myself also love the Gameshow network. I like to read inspirational books about coaches and players. I also enjoy keeping up with my former players and seeing their families. I try to make a positive impact on my students and players on a daily basis and be a christian role model every day of my life.
