Degrees and Certifications:

Mrs. Alma Martinez

My name is Alma Martinez and I am the Spanish teacher at Russellville High School.  I have been teaching in Russellville High School for nine years now, but I have been a teacher for 18 years.  I graduated from Russellville High School back in 1999, so I am glad to be teaching where I graduated from.

I came to the United States when I was eleven years old, and I couldn't speak any English, so I know that speaking a foreign language is not easy, so I always like to encourage my students to learn the language or any other language, because anything is possible. I was able to learn English myself and I'm a true believer that everyone is capable of learning any foreign language.

I went to Northwest Shoals Community College and obtained my Associate's Degree in 2001.  Once I graduated, I went to the University of Alabama for two semesters and then transferred to the University of North Alabama where I obtained my Bachelor's Degree in education in 2004.

I am married to Sergio Martinez and we have six beautiful children. Three of our own (Lupita,  Marifer  and Anita); one that is mine (Julian Ambrosio), and the other two that joined our lives because God wanted it to happen (Esthela and Yariela).  Esthela graduated back in 2019 and is in the U.S Navy; Julian graduated back in 2021, Yariela is a Junior at RHS, Lupita is in 2nd grade at WES, Marifer is in Kindergarten at WES and Anita is 1 year old.
