My name is Margarita S. Lazo de la Vega. I was born and raised in Mexico City. I have one brother and one sister, and I am the youngest of the three. After I graduated High School, I attended the Universidad del Nuevo Mundo in Mexico City. I have a BS Degree in Industrial and Graphic Design.
I got married also in Mexico City and my husband was offered a job at IFDC and that is when we decided to come to Alabama. We have one son. After he was born I was asked to teach Spanish but later I was told that I needed a degree to continue teaching. I have one granddaughter that I love dearly. She doesn't speak Spanish!! I went to UNA and got a BA Degree in Education with majors in Spanish and History. Years later, I completed a Master’s Degree in Education with endorsement on ESL at UAB. I taught for 18 years at Russellville Middle School and for the last three years I have been teaching at Russellville High School.
